If you believe that based on your age, you should -or should not- be wearing shimmer, then I’m here to tell you that a radiant glow is ageless! It is definitely not just for teenagers. And even better, any age can now create a more youthful glow with one, easy-to-use makeup product.
How to Use Liquid Eye Shadow for YOUR Youthful Glow
When you’re working with a product that has a high sheen or shimmer, it’s important to place it strategically. On the eye, for example, whether it’s in a liquid or a powder form, apply a small amount directly to the lid. Spread in a nice, thin coat, just under the arch of the brow. Because matte shades naturally recede – or push back- we want to avoid the crease with any shimmer.
Instead, we want to use a matte shadow for the crease and blend it up and out, just above the top of the eye socket. The area that comes forward, especially noticeable on a deep-set eye, will now visually push back, creating an even appearance. By highlighting only on the lid and immediately under the brow, it gives you that youthful, glamorous and yet soft and realistic look at the same time.

Where to Apply
We typically highlight in areas that are raised, where the light would hit it. By adding a shimmer to that area, it gives more reflection and more glow. So for example, if you’re focusing on the eyes, (who doesn’t want to draw more attention to their eyes, right?), the placement that I just mentioned is a key factor in keeping it looking classy.
For those who are younger or have the more youthful skin, a shimmer can be applied all over the lid and even up to the brow. If you’re not dealing with creases or the folds of skin, that allows you to apply more freely, all over the lid and up to the brow. It also works beautifully to brighten and highlight the dark inner corner of the eye.

A couple tips to create that Glamorous Glow, beyond the eye area:
- Use a foundation which has a luminous finish versus a matte finish (what you often see on the celebrities on the red carpet!) Or, mix the liquid eye shadow with your foundation, then apply to create your own desired sheen!
- Use the liquid shadow as a highlighter. Apply on brow bone, cheek bone, and down the center of the nose, creating a narrower appearance.
- Apply to the center of the lips, to plump and highlight, similar to using a gloss.
